2008 GENERAL RACE PARAMETERS

DISCIPLINES & CATEGORIES
The disciplines and their relative categories are indicated in the table below. Categories depend on age. The age class a rider is eligible to ride is determined by his age, which shall be calculated by deducting the year of birth from the current year.

GENERAL FORMAT
Each Trials World Cup race (except Women category) will include a quarterfinal event, a semifinal and a final in each category (only final). The best 10 riders from the quarterfinal will be eligible to compete in the semifinal (together with ranked riders). Best 8 riders in the semifinal will be eligible to compete in the final.

Women World Cup
The women’s World Cup event will consist of 3 rounds of 6 sections with a competition time of 4 hours.

World Cup Quarterfinal event
The Quarterfinal event will consist of 3 rounds of 6 sections with a competition time of 4 hours. The top 10 riders in each category will be qualified to compete in the World Cup semifinal event. The World Cup Quarterfinal events are open to all non qualified riders.

· Maximum number of riders per country and category: 20
· Minimum Top 10 riders in 20” (Combined Junior/Elite class) qualify for the Semifinal. More riders can qualify if the entries of directly qualified is less than 10 riders
· Minimum Top 10 riders in 26” (Combined Junior/Elite class) qualify for the Semifinal. More riders can qualify if the entries of directly qualified is less than 10 riders

World Cup Semi final
The top 10 riders in each category (20” and 26”) on the UCI Trials Ranking* are directly qualified to the World Cup Semifinal event, in addition to the top 10 riders from the Quarterfinal event. The Semifinal will consist of 2 rounds of 6 sections with a competition time of 4 hours.

*Based on results from the latest World Cup and World Championships.

World Cup Final
The best 8 riders from the Semifinal will be eligible to compete in the final. The scores gained in the semifinal do not count in the final. Each finalist starts with zero points. The final will consist of 2 rounds of 6 sections with a competition time of 1 hour 30 minutes.

ENTRIES
Riders wishing to compete in the UCI Trials World Cup may register only under the auspices and through their National federation. All competition entry dates must be adhered to and no late entries will be accepted. Pre-registration for the Trials World Cup is subject to the following restrictions:

PRIZE MONEY
UCI has set a minimum prize money amount of 5’000 Swiss Franc (Elite/Junior Men) and 900 Swiss Franc (Women) for each Trials World Cup event. The payment of the prize money will be paid out in cash directly after the event; the amount will be paid either in Swiss Franc or Euros.

UCI TRIALS WORLD RANKINGS
The selection criteria for directly qualified riders for the Trials World Cup, is based on the UCI Trials Ranking. The ranking includes the latest World Cup events as well as the UCI Trials World Championships. To view the latest ranking, go to “ranking” under the UCI webpage.
